From 2 to 4 October, HacKU 2026 brought over 200 participants to the University of Hong Kong following more than 400 applications. Jointly organised by the HKU Computer Science Association (HKU CSA)and the Hong Kong Information and Artificial Intelligence Association (HKIAIA), the event welcomed students from universities across Hong Kong, alongside teams from Tsinghua University and Peking University.

Over 48 hours, students turned ideas into working projects. On 4 October, teams showcased their work, with eight finalists pitching to a panel of industry and academic judges. Awards included Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes, The Club by HKT Innovation Award and Raccoon Work Technical Sponsor Award. Participants also received gifts from event sponsors.

Across FinTech and DeepTech, four challenges pushed teams to explore:

The goal was simple: go beyond the idea. Each challenge called for a practical demonstration and evidence of how the solution performs under real-world constraints.

HKU CSA led event planning and delivery, while HKIAIA helped take HacKU beyond HKU — expanding outreach across Hong Kong, inviting teams from Tsinghua and Peking universities, and connecting the event with sponsors and industry partners.
