Spotlight on Embodied Intelligence and Smart IoT: Broadening Young People’s Horizons in Technological Innovation

[Association News] To deepen industry–education integration and better connect the development of outstanding innovation talent with real-world industry practice, the Hong Kong Information and Artificial Intelligence Association (the “Association”) organised a technology enterprise visit in Shenzhen on 13 August for university student representatives. The delegation visited the Yushu Innovation Industry Centre and Das Intellitech Building, focusing on frontier areas including embodied intelligent robots and AIoT-enabled smart spaces. Through technology demonstrations, hands-on experiences and discussion sessions, students gained first-hand insight into the research, development and industrial application of AI technologies, further broadening their understanding of industry and innovation.
Embodied Intelligence: From Frontier Technologies to Industrial Applications
On the morning of 13 August, the delegation first visited the Yushu Innovation Industry Centre in Shenzhen. Guided by technical professionals, students gained a structured overview of the organisation’s innovation roadmap and technical capabilities in artificial intelligence, embodied intelligence and smart city services.
During the interactive session, students observed the motion control and multimodal voice interaction of humanoid robots and experienced intelligent robotic dogs. They learned about advances in autonomous environmental perception, complex-terrain locomotion and human–robot collaboration. Case studies illustrated applications of intelligent robots and low-altitude/unmanned systems in smart sanitation, park and industrial inspection, and emergency response. The hands-on experience gave students a clearer view of how embodied intelligence progresses from algorithm research and engineering to industrial deployment, while also deepening their understanding of related fields and trends.

Smart IoT: Understanding the Integration of AIoT and the Real Economy
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Das Intellitech in Shenzhen to learn more about the practical application of artificial intelligence and IoT technologies in smart-space development.
At Das Intellitech’s digital exhibition hall, staff introduced the company’s development and technological evolution through smart-screen demonstrations and system simulations. Students focused on solutions built around the company’s proprietary AIoT management and control platform across smart industrial parks, green hospitals, urban rail transit and green data centres. Through on-site observation and discussion, they gained a deeper understanding of how the IoT sensing layer, data platforms and AI algorithms work together, and how these technologies can improve the intelligence, energy efficiency and operational performance of built environments. The visit also helped students understand, at a systems level, how artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and real-world industries are integrated, broadening their interdisciplinary perspectives and strengthening their awareness of aligning academic study with industry needs.

Connecting Industry, Academia and Research: Supporting the Growth of Young Innovators
The full-day visit concluded with active discussion and exchange. From the micro-level perception and motion control of embodied intelligence to the macro-level coordination of smart IoT systems, the cross-sector industry visit gave students a more direct understanding of how artificial intelligence is being integrated with the real economy. By entering real technology environments and learning about companies’ research, development and application needs, students broadened their professional horizons and strengthened their awareness of connecting theoretical learning, technological innovation and industrial practice. The visit also provided practical experience for the Association as it continues to explore closer links between university talent development, technological innovation and industry practice.
Looking ahead, the Hong Kong Information and Artificial Intelligence Association will continue to leverage the industrial strengths of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and focus on developing outstanding young technology talent. The Association will continue to organise technology enterprise visits, technical exchanges, research practice and industry–academia–research collaboration, helping students stay connected with industry frontiers, strengthen their innovation and practical capabilities, and better align talent development with the needs of the technology sector. Through these efforts, the Association aims to bring together more resources and opportunities for artificial intelligence and information technology talent development and innovation across the Greater Bay Area.
